Quick answers about planning for the 2028 Games

When are the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles?
The Games run 14–30 July 2028. Some competition starts early: soccer, cricket, basketball, handball, hockey, rugby sevens and water polo begin between 10 and 13 July, before the Opening Ceremony on Friday 14 July at SoFi Stadium and the LA Memorial Coliseum. The Closing Ceremony is Sunday 30 July at the Coliseum.
How do LA28 ticket drops work?
You register for a draw at the official ticket site. If selected, you receive a time slot by email; each slot stays open for 48 hours, during which you can buy up to 12 Olympic event tickets. Ceremonies are capped at 4 tickets and count inside the 12; the soccer tournament has its own separate limit of 12. This planner builds a ranked buy list to take into your slot — it does not sell tickets.
Which sports are on which days?
Track & field runs in week one (15–24 July) at the Coliseum, with the marathons late in week two. Swimming runs in week two (22–30 July) in a temporary pool inside SoFi Stadium — a reversal of the usual Olympic order. Every sport's daily schedule, venue and medal days are in the planner above, taken from the published LA28 competition schedule (v4.0, July 2026).
How do you get to the venues without a car?
Most venue clusters sit on the Metro rail network: the E Line serves Exposition Park (Coliseum, BMO Stadium, Galen Center), the A Line serves Long Beach and Pasadena, the K Line serves Inglewood (SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome via shuttle), and Metrolink reaches Anaheim and Pomona. Carson, Venice Beach and the Sepulveda Basin venues rely on Games-time shuttles. The planner shows a route for every event from wherever you're staying.
